Wengen

Wengen is a charming village in the dramatic scenery of the Jungfrau region, located between Mürren and Grindelwald, with which it shares some slopes - and one ski pass covers all three places. It's much loved by anyone who visits, and many return year after year, taking the mountain train for the last part of the journey as Wengen is traffic-free. How atmospheric is that?

For beginners, there are nursery slopes in the village. Otherwise there are loads of long and gentle runs on which intermediates can refine their carving skills, and some immensely satisfying reds in the the Kleine Scheidegg and Männlichen area. White-knuckle riders head for the breathtaking Eigergletscher and even the Lauberhorn, home to the FIS Ski World Cup downhill. Probably not at 100km an hour like the professionals, but you can dream.

Wengen is a great resort for mixed ability groups, skiers and non-skiers young families and anyone who enjoys a more traditional, leisurely winter holiday.

Apres-Ski in Wengen

It's quiet here, dignified, you might say, but there are a few lively places, such as Tanne, the Rocks Bar and the Pickel Bar. There's often live music at Sina's Bar and there you can see sports and ski movies. If you like sampling whisky, go to Arvenstübli’s.

Restaurants are often high-end with menus full of tempting alpine goodies like Bernese rösti yet there are also fast food outlets and pizza, pasta and steak places. For a bit of a change, take a trip up the Jungfrau, have a meal and visit the ice-palace.

Otherwise, there are lots of snow-based activities - curling, ice climbing, tobogganing, winter walking and skating. Indoors, try billiards, bowling , swimming, saunas and spa facilities.

A relaxed, pressure-free ski holiday in Wengen with scenery you'll never forget? Perfect! GetSkiing can make it happen.
