Bardonecchia

Bardonecchia sits close to the border with France in the Italian Alps that played host to the Winter Olympics back in 2006.

That event helped to raise the profile of the resort thanks to the investment that was made, and it’s now a popular option for those who want to sample first rate European skiing.

In particular, beginner and intermediate level skiers will enjoy their time on the slopes with a range of runs that cater for the less experienced visitors.

Alongside long, quiet blue runs, there are a variety of ski schools that will help complete novices to get up to speed, with the impressive red runs sure to put a smile on the face when you then take the step up to the next level.

There is also a range of more challenging black runs for the experts to enjoy, with wide open bowls being a bit draw above the treeline.

The main three ski areas are interlinked to provide a total of around 140km of marked pistes, with the option of also investing in a lift pass that will open up additional challenges in some of the other nearby resorts.

Given how close you are to the border, there is the even the possibility in crossing over to France to make your winter break a two country affair.
