La Thuile

La Thuile is sometimes referred to as Little Siberia by Italians, which should provide some indication as to what to expect from the resort.

Offering stunning views of the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc – amongst others – the unspoilt resort is part of a huge ski area that includes La Rosière over the border in France, and is known for its excellent snow record.

Expect little in the way of queues on the quiet slopes, which feature a selection of long runs that are suitable for skiers of all levels.

For beginners, there are various low level nursery slopes that lead into some slightly more challenging blue runs, with the intermediate skiing covering an extensive area within the Aosta Valley.

In fact, La Thuile is the ideal resort for those looking to progress from the nursery slopes, mainly thanks to the extensive red runs that are available.

Impressive black runs then offer something for the expert skier in search of a challenge.

Add into the mix a wide selection of places to eat and drink when you’ve finished on the slopes and you’ll soon discover the delights of this unspoilt and relaxed resort.

Off Piste Skiing in La Thuile

There’s plenty of off-piste potential on a trip to La Thuile, both around the resort and over the border into France.

Impressive snow levels on the higher slopes help to add to the challenge of the off-piste areas, whilst there is also a dedicated off-piste zone in the Zittieux area over the French border.

Heli-skiing is also an option for the advanced skier on the Rutor glacier.

Family Skiing in La Thuile

Excellent facilities for beginners and children make La Thuile the ideal option for a family snow break. The gentle nursery slopes around the centre of the resort are perfect for children and accessed by magic carpets and drag lifts that make them simple to use.

Childcare is available, with play areas and plenty of family friendly accommodation also to be found within the resort.

Apres-Ski in La Thuile

Although quite a small resort, La Thuile offers plenty of low-key and informal après-ski options, with a selection of bars in which to meet for drink – some of which show live sport and offer the chance to listen to live music.

There is also a range of cafes in which to relax with a hot drink; with hot chocolate being a particular specialty.

In terms of dining, there is everything from local classics to traditional Italian fare, as well as more international offerings.

Non-Skiing Activities in La Thuile

If you want a break from the ski slopes, there is a raft of other activities that are available, which include a swimming pool, fitness centre, sauna, dog sledding, ice skating and sightseeing flights.
