Samoëns

Samoens is a resort that provides visitors with easy access to the expansive Grand Massif ski area.

There's a huge 265km of piste available as a result, and something to cater for skiers of all skill levels - from complete beginners and children through to those who are looking for high-speed challenges on treacherous black runs, or who have a desire to go and explore off the beaten track.

The village is known for its traditional stone buildings, with plenty of family-run restaurants with a cosy feel and friendly bars where you can join the locals for a drink after a day on the slopes.

A wide range of accommodation is available across the resort, whilst a major selling point is that the slopes are open later here than in some other resorts - which means you can head down the slopes as the sun sets on an evening to make the views even more dramatic.

Off the slopes, various additional activities are available that include everything from skating to an alpine rollercoaster.

Off Piste Skiing in Samoëns

Those who like to sample off piste skiing can head off and explore the Grand Massif area, although it is advised to do so with a local guide or instructor.

Family Skiing in Samoëns

Samoens has some top class skiing available for children and beginners, with access to a ski school at the top of the gondola before you move on to the next stage of your break and try the intermediate slopes.

Non-Skiing Activities in Samoëns

Snowshoeing, nordic walking and dog sledging are three things you can try away from the slopes and whilst it's still on skis, you might even try you hand at skijoring - where you are pulled along by a horse! Thrillseekers might also appreciate the chance to take a ride on a special alpine rollercoaster.

Apres-Ski in Samoëns

The resort is home to a wide range of bars and restaurants which means there is ample opportunity to head out on an evening and explore once you've finished your day on the slopes.
