Off Piste Skiing in Mürren
If the on-piste action for experienced skiers in Murren is good – with no fewer than five black runs and more than ten red runs – the off-piste action is also pretty memorable.
The challenging off-piste terrain includes some steep slopes that can be prone to avalanches as well as one run above a cliff band where there is no margin to make a mistake.
In fact, some descents off the back of the Shilthorn are not to be attempted without a guide who can ensure that the correct routes are taken.
Family Skiing in Mürren
The fact that Murren is quite quiet makes it an attractive option for families who want to try and escape some of the bustling crowds that may be found elsewhere.
The relaxed atmosphere is ideal for those who have the children in tow, whilst there is a special nursery slope for youngsters and a ski school that will help those youngsters who have never skied before take their first tentative steps onto the slopes.
Apres-Ski in Mürren
Make no mistake, Murren is not a big resort and it probably won’t take too long to walk from one end to the other.
As a result, don’t expect masses of après-ski after a day on the slopes but what is there is of a high quality.
A selection of bars and restaurants provide the chance to sample both modern and traditional fayre, whilst a trip to the top of the Schilthorn Mountain offers the chance to dine at a revolving restaurant that was made famous by the James Bond film ‘On her Majesty’s Secret Service’.
Non-Skiing Activities in Mürren
Within Murren, there is a range of alternative activities available for those moments when you decide to take a break from the slopes – or to cater for those members of the family who don’t want to ski.
Murren’s sports centre provides access to a range of amenities, which includes a swimming pool and an alpine spa with sauna and Turkish bath.
Other activities available within the resort include walking trails, tobogganing, ice skating and curling.
Whilst it might not be something you want to try, keep an eye out for base jumpers throwing themselves from some of the cliff tops in the ultimate adrenaline sport.
