Les Deux Alpes

Les Deux Alpes is not one of our top ten family ski resorts for nothing. It's brilliant for families! Brilliant for singles and couples too, mind you.

It's got a very good snow record, is known for long hours of sunshine and there's a glacier, skiing at high altitudes at a dizzying 3568m so there's always something to smile about even when other resorts may be struggling in milder weather.

For beginners, it's well set up. As well as free T-bars in the village there are even some pistes on the glacier which is a deal more exciting than your average nursery slope. Aside from that there is more than 200kms of runs for skiers and boarders of every ability including the possibility of descending from 3400m to 1300m all in one go, if you have the legs for it.

For off-piste, nothing can beat La Grave, definitely best tackled with a guide, or spend a day in Serre Chevalier or Alpe d’Huez, covered by your 6-day pass. There are loads of snow facilities for boarders, with kickers and rails and half-pipes and everything you'd ever wish for.

Apres-Ski in Les Deux Alpes

The choice of accommodation in Les Deux Alpes is magnificent. There are plenty of family-orientated activities off the slopes like an ice-skating rink, helicopter sightseeing tours, dog sledding, snowmobiling and snowshoeing. There are oodles of cafés, shops and restaurants for every taste too, catering well for families.

However, Les Deux Alpes and vibrant après-ski go together like… Batman and Robin. Mid-station Le Pano Bar could be a place to start, then imagine a choice of 100 beers at Pub Windsor, or a night at Smithy's and finish up at the Avalanche Club if you're still standing until 4 am. Actually, there are at least 30 bars open until all hours, so take your pick.

Something for everyone at Les Deux Alpes. Let GetSkiing organise your ski holiday.

Gary's Little Gems in Les Deux Alpes

Uniquely, Les Deux Alpes is an upside down resort! That's to say, the best beginners' slopes are up top on the glacier, where runs are wide and gentle and snow very good. For experts, a day in La Grave will challenge the very best of you as every slope is black. Snowboarding is excellent and the night life in town rivals any ski resort.
