Klosters

Klosters is probably one of the most famous ski resorts to be found anywhere in Europe, thanks in no small part to the fact that it is a favourite with members of the royal family.

In fact, two of the cable cars that carry people to the top of Gotschnagrat – a mountain overlooking the resort – bear the Prince of Wales title on them.

Klosters shares around 300km of first class skiing with the neighbouring resort of Davos, which can be reached on a scenic mountain train that is included as part of your lift pass.

The fact that the resort sits at high altitude means that first rate snow is guaranteed across the season and, despite the royal links, Klosters is also a very relaxed destination and not simply an exclusive resort for the rich and famous.

In fact, nothing could be further from the truth – with everyone welcomed with open arms.

The high quality skiing is suitable for all levels, and from the relaxed pace of Madrisa through the red runs on Parsenn and the challenging black runs on Rinerhorn, the well-groomed pistes offer skiing that is suitable for all levels.

There is also the option of tackling some cross-country trails should you decide to spend some time away from the slopes.

Off Piste Skiing in Klosters

Such is the size of Klosters as a resort, you’ll find plenty of off-piste action if you want to head off the beaten track.

The off-piste skiing ranges from wide open slopes to more technical sections that wind through wooded areas and it’s all relatively easy to access.

The deep powder snow is a major selling point when it comes to off-piste action, as is the fact that you can book onto special trips that provide assistance for those going off-piste for the first time.

Apres-Ski in Klosters

If Prince Charles felt Klosters was good enough to take William and Harry away, then who are we to argue when it comes to the resort’s suitability for a family break…

Like many modern ski resorts, Klosters has developed with the times to ensure that guests of all ages are catered for, and a ski kindergarten is in place for children aged from 2-7 that allows parents some freedom to hit the steeper slopes whilst the youngsters are taken care of.

There is also a special fun park for children where they can learn to ski on more gentle terrain, with the assistance of specialist teachers to help them hone their skills.

Non-Skiing Activities in Klosters

Aside from the bars and restaurants, you can also enjoy a range of different winter pursuits during a trip to Klosters, showing that the resort is about more than just the ski slopes.

In fact, there are so many other activities that you’ll be left somewhat spoiled for choice – with snowshoeing, tobogganing, snowbiking and curling just four things you may decide to sample.

There are also guided walks available on trails through the countryside as well as special tours around the resort itself to explore the many years of culture that have helped make Klosters so famous around the world.
